As you get ready to welcome your new family member, there will be supplies that you will need to stock up on. Everything on this list is used by us, and we feel comfortable recommending. We feed a combination of fresh food and kibble. We have used Life's Abundance kibble since bringing our first ALD home in 2007. Over the years, we have decided to add a few other foods in for variety.
We feel that fresh really is best! Your pup gets this food for his/her morning and evening meals. Since pups need more food when they are growing, it is suggested that your young pup get 5% of their body weight per day. Here’s a great feeding calculator. We like this food because you have the choice of feeding frozen raw that you store in the freezer, or you can get the same formulation with a freeze-dried option that doesn’t require a freezer. You can order online from the link below for 25% off your first order. After that you can use a subscription discount and a rewards program for bulk purchases. You can also find this food at local specialty pet stores. This food is high pressure pasteurized, which has been shown to remove pathogens without sacrificing nutrition. We recommend the freeze dried options for families that have young kids just to be on the safe side.
Bixbi Rawbble and their Liberty Kibble line are in our rotation. We believe that rotating protein sources is best for your dog. We don't eat the same thing day in and day out, so why would our dogs? We like the freeze dried Rawbble for training treats.
We negotiated a special deal with BIXBI our families. j
Even better, the subscription service gives you 10% off of everyday pricing. We have negotiated an extra 5% discount on top of the normal subscription pricing. Just use code luckycountry when you sign up for the subscription to get the extra discount.
All codes are only good for purchases made at BIXBIpet.com.
We use a lightweight training line to help when training recalls. We like this one.
We love these harnesses for training and travel. You can't go wrong! Our pups will take an XS at first, and then the medium or large as they grow. We keep these in our car for our back seat with a travel tether.
We know that crates are sometimes hard to fit into a car. We use the harnesses and a tether that attaches to the permanent clip in your car. We don't use the seatbelt attachments since our dogs have managed to release the clip when they step on the seatbelt. We like these.
The plastic crates are nice as well- great for when you can’t be watching them. Shop around, these are not adjustable size wise, so your new baby will grow out of them quickly. This one is nice because it has wheels to move around. As Amy points out, the plastic crate will really be for your pup when you want them relaxing next to you. The large will be a good size to start out with.
We are big advocates of crate training. A crate is a place where our dogs have their down time, they sleep in their crates at night, and also eat their meals in their crates. Most of our dogs will use a 42" crate, although a couple of litters are small enough to use the 36" size. We like this brand, preferring the crates that have a side and a front door.
A raised bed for sleep and training- we love these-Kuranda Bed- we have 6!!! We use the style designed for our crates- it keeps your pup elevated off the floor to support their joints, and in warmer months, helps with airflow underneath to keep them cooler. Highly recommend!
Your pup will need a place to stay where she is safe when you can't be watching her. We have two sets of these and love them. We like that pups can’t crawl out of them, and they look nice You can connect two sets together if you would like to make it bigger.
A soft bed for them to relax in outside of their crate- we like these. Just remember to get the cover so that your pup isn’t tempted to chew on the zipper. It’s nice that you can unzip it and wash it – accidents are going to happen, and at least this way you can wash them out: We have a discount code for you.

This brush has a magical powers reputation amongst Doodle groomers, home and pro alike, and we couldn't agree more. It has been in our grooming arsenal for a while now, and is our number one go to brush.
While this comb doesn't look like it would do the job on your Dood' coat, it is the great equalizer when it comes to making sure your dood's coat is ready for clipping. If you can't get this comb through your dood's coat, your clipper won't be working either.
These little shears are perfect for trims around your Dood's eyes, and even trimming the hair around paw pads between full grooms.
This little tool makes quick work of mats on your Dood. Use it sparingly- each of those tines are actually little serrated knives. To say they are sharp is an understatement! But, they are perfect for mats you might have missed during comb outs.
We clip our dogs' nails first, and then use this to smooth the edges, and also take a bit more nail to make sure that the quick recedes.
We like this style of nail clipper to take small slices of nail away without accidentally nipping the quick.
If you want to bathe your dog at home, this is a must! A high velocity dryer not only dries the coat, but also gets it fluffed and ready for clippers. It also helps with finding mats
We like this paste for tummy upsets, for mild diarrhea. The paste is easy to administer to pups and adults
To find out more about our dogs, make sure to complete a preference form so that we can schedule a time to talk. We LOVE to talk Dood!!! .
